Start with the location
The best banner material depends on where the sign will hang, how exposed it is, and how close people will be when they read it. Before requesting a quote, note the mounting surface, the available space and whether the banner will be indoors or outdoors.
When vinyl makes sense
NorthWest Banners offers 13 oz matte vinyl for indoor and outdoor use. Its solid surface makes it a practical choice for storefront promotions, event backdrops and signs in sheltered locations. A simple headline, contrasting colors and a clear next step help your message stand out.
When to consider mesh
Mesh has small openings that allow some air to pass through. Consider it for fences, scaffolding and more exposed locations. Those openings reduce the solid printable surface, so keep important words large and avoid relying on very fine detail. Mesh can reduce wind resistance compared with solid vinyl, but it is not windproof and does not make an unsuitable mounting system safe.
Check the installation, not just the material
Confirm permission to use the surface and identify secure attachment points before choosing a size. Leave room for finishing and mounting hardware. For an exposed installation, ask about the mounting plan and take the sign down when conditions make it unsafe. Do not cover exits or interfere with visibility.
What to include in your quote request
Send the width and height, quantity, needed-by date, a photo of the location and a short description of the mounting surface. Let us know if wind exposure is a concern. If you are unsure between vinyl and mesh, ask us to review the location before you commit to a material.
